Project Details

  • The project aimed to create a cohesive brand identity and online presence for Dandaloo Su, a First Nations art, fashion, and community education business based in Wellington, NSW. This included developing a unique logo design, custom business cards, original fabric patterns for her garments, and a website that not only showcases Su Lousick's handmade native fibre crafts but also serves as an educational platform for her work and cultural heritage.

  • The primary objective was to design a visual identity, original fabric patterns, and an online platform that authentically reflects the essence of Dandaloo Su. This involved:

    • Crafting a logo that embodies the connection to Wiradjuri Country and Su’s deep knowledge of native fibres and cultural practices.

    • Designing custom fabric patterns that incorporate native and indigenous flora, reflecting Su’s artistic vision and cultural significance.

    • Providing Su with custom business cards to support networking at events and community gatherings.

    • Developing a website that highlights Su's artwork, facilitates commissions, and educates visitors about native fibres, fibre crafts, and cultural practices.

  • To achieve these objectives, the project was approached in the following phases:

    1. Discovery & Research: Understanding Su’s vision, cultural significance, and the essence of her work. This involved learning about the cultural, environmental, and educational aspects of Dandaloo Su.

    2. Logo Design: Creating a logo that symbolises Su’s connection to her heritage and her craft. The design process was collaborative, ensuring the final product was both meaningful and visually striking.

    3. Fabric Pattern Design: Crafting original fabric patterns inspired by native flora and fauna, designed specifically for Su’s garments. These patterns were developed to enhance the storytelling and cultural expression in her fashion pieces.

    4. Business Card Design: Designing business cards that align with the new logo, offering a professional and culturally resonant tool for Su to use at events and gatherings.

    5. Website Development: Building a user-friendly, visually appealing website that showcases Su’s work, offers educational content, and provides easy access for inquiries and commissions. The website was designed to be an extension of Su’s artistic vision and cultural mission.

  • The project successfully delivered a distinctive brand identity, original fabric patterns, and an online presence for Dandaloo Su. The logo and business cards provided Su with professional tools to enhance her visibility at events and community engagements. The custom fabric patterns added a unique and culturally rich dimension to her garments, making them even more meaningful and visually compelling. The website has become a vital platform for showcasing her artwork, facilitating commissions, and educating others about the importance of native fibres, cultural practices, and environmental advocacy. Through this project, Dandaloo Su is now well-positioned to reach a wider audience, celebrating and preserving First Nations culture while promoting sustainable art practices.
