Get Your Sh*t Together | Sarah Knight | Book
In this book, the wizard that is Sarah Knight talks about how to stop worrying about what you should do so you can finish what you need to do and start doing what you want to do.
It’s described as ‘the no-f**cks-given, no-holds-barred guide to living your best life’.
Ever find yourself snowed under at the office - or even just glued to the sofa - when you really want to get out (for once), get to the gym (at last), and get started on that big, personal project you’re always putting off? Then it’s time to get your sh*t together.
I found myself reaching for this book when it was time for me to start working for myself. It was a bittersweet journey for me, but I have been dreaming about working for myself ever since I started studying Design at University, so I knew I needed to have my sh*t together to make this dream a reality.
What I love most about this book is that it can be applied to just about everything in your life. It’s about knowing what kind of person you are, playing to your strengths, building good habits so you achieve what you want to achieve.
Sometimes I struggle to even know what I want to achieve. I think this comes down to the fear I have of not achieving my goals or thinking everything has to be perfect. It’s important to bring yourself back down to earth and remember you need to enjoy the journey to achieving your goals, not just think you’ll be the happiest person alive once you’ve achieved them. It’s a constant cycle and process to staying on top of keeping your sh*t together.
A big, fat pat on the back I gave myself when reading this book is that I kind of, a little bit, have some sh*t together. My OCD of organising my personal and work emails is an achievement and step towards getting your sh*t together. Woooo! My craziness pays off!
I do this because it helps me prioritise what I need to do in my personal life, and what projects I need to complete first for all my clients. I am also a very space conscious person, if my studio space is messy - I can’t be creative. This applies to my emails because the majority of my work is done on the computer and emails is one of the most important ways I communicate with clients, so if it’s chaotic and messy - I can’t work efficiently.
If you get frustrated at yourself for not achieving a goal, or for not completing all the little tasks for starting your business, do yourself a favour and read this book.
If you need help organising your emails like an OCD person, I can help you with that!
But simply - GET YOUR SHIT TOGETHER AND START WINNING AT LIFE.
