01. WHO YOU ARE

Authenticity is a magnet, and nothing will attract your ideal client quite like knowing who you are. Let's get started:

Why did you start your business?

How does your business help people?

What makes your business unique?

What makes you (as a person) unique?

If you own or work solely in your business.

What's something that frustrates you in your industry?

What does your brand believe in? What values and feelings underpin your brand?

E.g. fun, design, sustainability, high-quality, experience, customer service, happiness, authenticity, etc.

If you could identify your brand with 5 words, what would they be?

Narrowing down these words can help you refine the type of colours you'd like associated with your brand. Colour theory is both a science and an art, how someone perceives your brand can be based on what they associate with a colour.

What colours would you like to associate with your brand?

Don't pick too many colours. 90% of big brands have only 1-2 colours that they use consistently. You need 1-2 primary colours, 1 accent colour, and 1 standard colour for your copy or text (this should be either black or a dark neutral colour).

Are there any specific design elements you like?

E.g. thin lines, circles, geometric shapes, bold fonts, banners, hand-drawn type, minimal, etc.

02. BRAND STATEMENT

Your brand statement will describe what it is that you do quickly and accurately. This needs to be communicated consistently across all collateral for your business, because branding isn't just about looking good, it's about being recognised and remembered. Example: At Shiplee Studio, we offer a variety of creative solutions to help small businesses and individuals bring their vision to life.

03. WHO ARE YOU TRYING TO REACH

Being clear about what kind of customers you're trying to attract to your business is a massive part of creating your brand strategy. Close your eyes and think about your dream client, you may have a few different demographics in mind but try think of your main income stream.

What's their demographic?

What problems do they face?

What problems are they facing where your business can offer solutions?

What are their goals?

What goals do they have in mind when working with your business? E.g. Want to get the best deal or excellent customer service.

What are their values?

What offerings will they value from your business products/services? E.g. Advice that is specific to their situation.

What do you want your clients to feel or know when they work with you?

E.g. Trust, positivity, uniqueness, efficiency, high-end design, excited, happy

How can you serve your ideal client?

How are your products/services going to solve their problems?

04. COMPETITORS

Being aware of what other businesses in your industry look like and offer enables you to remain unique.

List at least 3 other businesses in your industry that you see as your competitors:

Include business name, website link and social media accounts, if possible.

05. Pinterest Board

Once you've been through and completed our Brand Strategy Form, please create a Pinterest board and send the link to lara@shipleestudio.com.au. On your Pinterest board, pin anything you feels reflects your business and what you want your logo to communicate. This might include logos of other businesses, shapes, drawings, colours, fonts, pictures, photos, textures, and anything else that really speaks to you about your business - the look and feel you want to convey. This will help us get a feel for the elements that will make up your brand. Feel free to pin as much as you can, the more ideas you have, the better we can understand what inspires you!
